Join Sandy Lemon, Director of Golf Instruction at Twin Warriors and Santa Ana Golf Courses and Destination Southwest for a memorable visit to the Solheim Cup, professional golf's international match-play competition for women. The Solheim Cup is the most highly coveted trophy in women's professional golf team competition and the event has grown into the most prestigious international women's professional golf team event. The 2019 event will be held at Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland.

Depart Sunday from the United States for a Monday arrival into Edinburgh (EDI)

 

 

DAY 1: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH 2019 

Following arrival at Edinburgh Airport you will be greeted by your tour director and transferred to your centrally located Apex Hotel Waterloo Place, Edinburgh City for three nights stay. The Apex Hotel dates to 1819 and was the first purpose-built hotel in Edinburgh. Its central location makes it a short walk to Princess Street, one of Edinburgh’s major thoroughfares and main shopping streets. This evening you will meet with your fellow travelers and enjoy a welcome dinner. Meals included: D

DAY 2: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH 2019

Tour: Edinburgh City Tour

 

This morning you will take a tour of Edinburgh City. You will drive down Princess Street andthe historic Royal Mile before visiting  the Palace of Holyrood House - the official Scottish residence of her Majesty the Queen. Hear the tales of some truly intriguing characters - the Body snatchers, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Greyfriars Bobby. You willvisit the majestic Edinburgh Castle and enjoy the breathtaking views of the city from the castle ramparts. The remainder of the afternoon is free to take in more of the sights of this wonderful city.

DAY 3: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH 2019

Tour: Stirling Castle – Aberfoyle – Callander

 

This morning you travel to the historic town of Stirling and visit Stirling Castle. It was said whoever controlled Stirling controlled the Scotland of old. The castle was the birthplace of James III and the home to James IV, James VI and the infant Mary, Queen of Scots. The castle's Chapel Royal has been fully restored and its medieval kitchens have been recreated, complete with life-size models of cooks preparing banquets allowing visitors to experience the sights and the smells of 16th-century kitchen life in the castle. You continue to Aberfoyle where you will visit the Scottish Wool Centre. Your tour then winds its way through the scenic Trossachs to the bustling highland town of Callander, before returning to Edinburgh. This evening you enjoy the Spirit of Scotland Show at the Jam House which includes a 3-course meal accompanied by traditional Scottish music and dance.

DAY 4: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH 2019

Tour:  St Andrew’s - Scone Palace - Gleneagles 

 

This morning you depart Edinburgh and enjoy some of Scotland’s East Coast. As you cross the Forth Road Bridge you get some fine views of the famous Forth Rail-bridge opened in 1890, it cost 57 lives during its construction. You continue through the fishing villages of Fife to St. Andrew’s. Not only is St. Andrew’s famed as the home of golf, it is also an ancient ecclesiastical capital and is Scotland’s oldest university town. From here you travel over the Tay Bridge to Dundee and continue to Perth where you will visit Scone Palace, the rightful home of the celebrated Stone of Destiny. It was the seat of parliaments and the crowning place of the Kings of Scots, including Macbeth and Robert the Bruce. Scone Palace is regarded as a national treasure and the historic jewel in the crown of Scotland. You continue to Gleneagles and enjoy the opening ceremony of the 2019 Solheim Cup. Later you will travel to Pitlochry for a four-night stay in the Atholl Palace Hotel. Meals included: B,D

DAY 5: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH 2019

Tour:  Solheim Cup – Foursome matches in the morning and four-ball matches in the afternoon. Includes a ticket to the PING Pavilion for the tournament which offers an upgraded Solheim Cup experience. The Ping Pavilion ticket holder will gain access to the Ping Pavilion, a covered structure with comfortable seating, entertainment, large TV Screens, dining areas, upgraded toilets and the facility to buy food and drinks on a cash basis.
